Both alums of the Worcester Polytechnic Institute (WPI), Mike & Mary chose the perfect venue for their wedding that would celebrate their love of science, computers and technology: The Boston Museum of Science. To kick off the day, both bride and groom got ready at nearby Hotel Marlowe, one of my favorite boutique hotels in Boston 🙂
Beautiful bride Mary in her flowy wedding dress…
…On another floor, Mike and the guys prepared for the bridal reveal:
In the girls’ room, music was blasting. In the guys’ room, the football was on 🙂
Finally, the bride and groom saw each other….
Fit for royalty in the Hotel Marlowe lobby:
After a few photos inside the hotel, we headed out to Lechmere Canal Park and the Cambridge Parkway for some formal photos…
There were already glimpses of the beautiful fall foliage along the canal.
After we finished up the formal photos, everyone headed to the gorgeous St. Catherine’s church in Somerville for the ceremony.
And Mike & Mary were married 🙂
After the ceremony, everyone headed back to Cambridge for the reception at the Museum of Science:
The cocktail hour was held in the New England Habitats Exhibit Room:
I stole the bride and groom away for a few more formals at the Museum. Here they are in the Skyline Room, with the sunset and Boston skyline behind them:
And outside on the terrace in the dusky light 🙂
We made a quick stop outside and ran into this scary T-Rex! Mary & Mike do a pretty solid impression 🙂
Then we made a final stop at the Archimedean Excogitation. a.k.a. the impressive Audiokinetic Sculpture in the lower level of the Museum.
Then it was time for the party to start! In keeping with their science theme, the couple created a seating chart that mimicked the Periodic Table of Elements – loved it!
Each table had it’s own subject area of Science and accompanying centerpieces…so creative!
Probably my favorite thing of all, was the robots…two fuzzy stuffed robots at their sweetheart table, and a totally awesome Robot Bride & Groom (& Cat) cake-topper!
The couple was introduced for the first time as husband and wife!
First Dance
Some very funny and heartfelt toasts by the bride’s sister and the groom’s brother:
Parent Dances….
And cake cutting!
Then it was time to party! I was waiting for the “Domo Arigato, Mr Roboto” song to come on, but I must have missed it 🙂
A final pic of the WPI gang with the bride and groom….
Congrats Mary & Mike on your “out of this world” wedding! All the best to you both 🙂

Last September, I had the pleasure of shooting Marykate & Han’s seaside wedding at the newly renovated Sea Crest Beach Hotel – what a blast that was! So I was super excited to return this September for yet another wonderful wedding: Kimberly & Ryan’s 🙂 With Labor Day weekend behind us, the resort was much quieter and we were blessed with a truly beautiful fall day and a beach that was nearly empty. Here are some getting ready shots of the lovely bride, who wore a ring pendant as a touching reminder of her Mom….
I loved the romantic, vintage look of Kim’s dress…
Kim chose a simple, but elegant bouquet of white tulips.
Dad stepped in and helped Kim with her veil:
Some stunning seascape portraits of Kim 🙂
Over on the other side of the hotel, Ryan was getting ready too:
Ryan with his sister, just a few minutes before the ceremony:
Then it was time to get married!!!
The gorgeous streaming sunlight made for a dramatic moment during the vows and ring exchanges….
And introducing the newlyweds!
While guests enjoyed the cocktail hour, I grabbed the bride and groom for some formal photos with their family:
Then we headed over to the beach to get some more photos of the bride and groom alone:
I loved the light in these photos…it really was a spectacular day.
Happy.
Just after sunset, the party began….
The couple danced their first dance….
The fathers made toasts 🙂
And the cake was cut!
The bride and groom’s friends surprised everyone with these beautiful paper lanterns, which they lit on the beach and released into the night sky….
Ryan & Kim, I wish you many years of happiness together! Your wedding was wonderful and I’m so happy I could be a part of it 🙂
