Wild Horses Couldn’t Drag Me Away…from Assateague Island <3

Below are some snaps from my recent trip through the Southeast for a wedding in Virginia.  On our way down we camped on the barrier island of Assateague (off the coast of Maryland) where you’re likely to see more wild horses than people (especially this time of year).  The island is home to a national wildlife refuge where your only options for staying are to pitch a tent or park your RV on the sandy dunes 🙂  With Tropical Storm Ana looming, the island was enshrouded in a fog, which somehow lent the place and its wild horses a quiet, mystical quality…

On our way back from the wedding, we drove out to Shenandoah National Park for a couple days more camping and hiking 🙂  Below is from the Cedar River Falls on the White Oak Circuit:

Back at camp, the deer were gathering for dinner…

Hiking Old Rag on our last day…unfortunately these photos don’t show the rock scramble at the top!  My camera stayed safely in my backpack for that portion of the hike lol.
